Farewell Blog

Rob PurdhamWhat a great night and a great way to end the testimonial year with the dinner at the Lensbury. It was good for me, Sarah and baby Estelle to meet everyone again and have a good chat and drink or two with everyone. I can’t thank the committee enough for the work they have done over the last 12 months, it has been enjoyable and frustrating at the same time.

It was nice to see a few of the new London players there and for me to meet them; I wish them all the best for the season.

The testimonial year has come to an end and I think at the same time it has finally sank in that I won’t be playing in London again . I can’t remember one memory that stands out over the years it was the whole 10 years that I will never forget.

Since retiring and moving back to Cumbria we have had quite a few ex London players come and visit witch has been good and normally ended up in the boys nipping to my local The Lion & Lamb for a couple of pints! They have all been up to see the farm but there has only been Danny Orr who was prepared to get his hands dirty!

It’s a very busy time on the farm at the moment with the sheep starting to lamb, as I am writing this I have just returned from delivering a set of triplet’s lambs and you will be pleased to know they are all doing well. In a months’ time the cows start to calve so it doesn't get any easier!
This will probably be the last blog of the testimonial year, I know I have not been the best communicator but hope fully you have all enjoyed what I have had to say over the last 12 months.

Just before I go I feel I have got to comment on the Man U v Liverpool football game last week. I am a big believe in what happens on the field stays on the field and the media have just exploded the situation with their constant showing and commenting. My personal view is why are they shaking hands before the game anyway you shake someone’s hand and mean it not just for T.V AFTER the game.

Anyway that's my rant over, thanks for all your support over the last 12 months.

Purdo.
